The pair are contracted at the club until 2018 and there is a clamour among the Gunners' faithful to see their futures secured, having previously seen stars such as Ashley Cole, Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie leave the club rather than agreeing new terms.

Wenger was also keen to heap praise on Germany star Ozil, who he believes is entering his peak years.

"He's 28 and is in the prime of his career," he continued.
