Diego Simeone perfect for Arsenal, says former Gunner Emmanuel Petit
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone would be an ideal choice as next Arsenal manager, according to former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit . The Frenchman would love to see the Argentine make the move to north London after his terrific work in La Liga since taking over at Atletico in 2011.
Simeone guided Atletico to an unlikely title win in 2013/14, and has also managed to reach two Champions League finals with the club.
Arsene Wenger’s future is in doubt at the moment, with Ian Wright expressing the view that he would be leaving at the end of his contract this summer.
Petit is less certain that the French tactician will be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium, but admits he’d love Simeone to replace him if he did decide to walk away.
‘I would love to see Simeone in London,’ he said. ‘It would be for me the best choice.
