Arsene Wenger Confirms Arsenal Are Interested in Kylian Mbappe But There's One Major Catch

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the Gunners are tracking Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe with a view to bringing the French teenager to north London in summer, but has equally been forced to admit the escalating price tag could quickly become too expensive.
Having only celebrated his 18th birthday a few days before Christmas, Mbappe has wowed Europe with his displays this season as Monaco aim for a first Ligue 1 title since 2000.

He's been prolific in all competitions since February and has been particularly impressive in the Champions League, scoring home and away against Manchester City in the Last-16 and then three times over two legs against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter finals.

So when Wenger was asked by French outlet SFR Sport this week whether he was interested, his answer was ultimately rather obvious.
"Of course. It would be hypocritical and a lie to say we're not following him", the Arsenal boss commented. "But he's perhaps already in the category of clubs who perhaps have more financial potential than us."

Real Madrid are thought to be desperate to land Mbappe having already tried to sign him at an even younger age around four years ago, while Manchester City and Manchester United are usually always heavily linked with any top player.
The frenzied interest and the belief that this youngster really is the 'next big thing' has seen reported asking prices soar towards the £100m mark, possibly higher - new world record territory - eclipsing the unprecedented £89m Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba.

For Arsenal and Wenger it will surely be too much, but that won't stop them at least looking.
