Arsene Wenger Reportedly Ready to Hijack Everton's Deal for €18m AC Milan Winger
Arsenal are reportedly keen to gazump Everton to the signing of AC Milan winger M'Baye Niang, who is said to be close to joining the Toffees.
The Merseyside outfit are believed to have come to an agreement with Niang's current Serie A owners, with a fee in the region of €18m being floated about. However, whilst reports have been made of Niang's ongoing medical with Everton, the winger's Instagram stories prove different, with the Frenchman currently on holiday. This, according to the Hertfordshire Mercury, has caused Arsenal to surprisingly come in for the recent Watford loanee - who failed to impress at Vicarage Road.
As was the case at the San Siro, Niang's January loan move to Watford was marred by inconsistency, meaning that the 22-year-old saw himself on the receiving end of little game time under Walter Mazzarri, and that was the reason why the Hornets decided not to move for a permanent deal for the wide man. This raises questions as to why Arsenal are so keen on Niang. A player who has proven that he can't consistently perform at the top level doesn't tend to be pursued by the top clubs, understandably.Nevertheless, Arsenal are believed to be eager to sign the pacey winger, and may well steal him form Everton's clutches.Watford, meanwhile, have been linked with various other names already in this window. The likes of Lazar Markovic, Nicholas Pepe and Allan have all been thrown into the rumour mill in regards to a move to Vicarage Road.
