Arsenal Reportedly Prepared to Pay £27m for Barcelona's Midfield Ace Arda Turan
Spanish publication Don Balon are reporting that a deal for Arda Turan to move from Barcelona to Arsenal this summer is moving ever closer.
The Spanish media also claim that a deal for the attacking midfielder would be achievable for no more than €30million (almost £27million).
Turan arrived at the Camp Nou in 2015 from Atletico Madrid, but famously had to wait 6 months until he could play for Barcelona due to their transfer embargo.
Now 30, Turan's career has come to a grinding halt at Barcelona, only making 14 appearances in La Liga last season. The Turkish international has not been able to surpass one of Barcelona's three main men - Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar - to fill one of their attacking positions, nor has he been able to secure a regular spot in the heart of midfield.As a result Arsene Wenger is now looking to take this opportunity to sweep in and offer Turan first team football at the Emirates stadium next season.
Aresnal are known to have been admirers of the player for a long time and the versatile midfielder will give Wenger plenty of options if key players leave the Gunners this summer.
In the past for Atletico Madrid, Turan has been deployed in wide attacking areas and could be a direct replacement for Alexis Sanchez, if he moves to one of the many clubs chasing the Chilean's signature this summer. However a more likely role for Turan at Arsenal would be one where he is deployed in a central attacking midfield position and could he replace Santi Carzola or Mesut Ozil, if either decide to leave this summer.
During his four years at Atletico, Turan earned a reputation for being one of the most technically gifted and physically menacing attacking midfielders in La Liga and if he could re-discover this form, would still be a valuable asset to Arsenal.
