Bayern Ready to Throw in Towel Over Alexis Sanchez Transfer After Deciding He's Too Expensive

Bayern Munich are believed to be on the verge of giving up on their pursuit of transfer target Alexis Sanchez, after reports have claimed that the Chilean attacker will cost the Bavarians too much.

Sanchez's Arsenal future has been in doubt for quite some time; after a dismal season by Arsenal's standards, the 28-year-old is said to be frustrated by life at the Emirates Stadium and Bayern, along with Manchester City, have been hot on his tail as the summer transfer window starts to hit full swing.

Despite the Arsenal number seven stating clearly that he will not make a decision on his future until after the Confederations Cup is over (Chile face Portugal in the semi-final on Wednesday evening), speculation persists around the Arsenal star.

According to German news outlet Kicker, Bayern Munich have come to the conclusion that Sanchez will prove too expensive for the club - even though the former Barcelona player has shown that he has sufficient quality to play at one of Europe's biggest clubs.

The German champions have decided that any transfer would cost them around €150m over the space of four years - a figure that they simply can't afford.

While this could be seen as good news for Arsenal fans, it could just be a negotiation tactic coming from the Allianz Arena, with Sanchez's contract with the Gunners running out next summer.

However, what would be even worse for the Arsenal faithful would be that this could spell a move to the Etihad Stadium for their favourite superstar.
