Arsenal are allegedly willing to match Lyon's high £52.7m valuation of their star striker Alexandre Lacazette. In a report by the Evening Standard, the Gunners are stated to be heavily interested in the 26-year-old, who they have been keeping tabs on since the end of the season, and do not see his hefty price tag as prohibitive.Previously, the Frenchman was linked with a move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. The deal fell through however after the Madrid club were given a transfer ban set to last until January 2018.
Lacazette has also been rumoured to make the switch across the channel to the Premier League for years due to his prolific Ligue 1 form.In 203 appearances for Lyon, he has netted 100 times, following his inception into the regular starting eleven in 2010.Arsene Wenger's Gunners finished in a disappointing fifth place last season,missing out on a crucial Champions League position.Arsenal did triumph in the FA Cup, but must invest this summer to mount a more consistent challenge to the other Premier League teams next season. Lacazette may just be the marquee signing they need.
